Papua New Guinea Forest Authority has a National Tree Seed Centre at Bulolo in the Morobe Province. The seed Centre was established by the New Zealand Government through its overseas Development Assistance.
The main functions of the Seed centre includes:-
1. Research and identify natural seed sources of high valued native tree species.
2. Negotiate with landowners for conservation of these seed sources and furthermore organise the participation of landowners in the monitoring and collection of seed.
3. Collection of seeds of various selected species and storage for sale and distribution.
4.Work closely with the Forest Research Institute in the improvement, quality control and storage to maintain high viability of seeds.
