Japan presents drones worth K170,000 to PNGFA

THE Japanese Government through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has presented four drones to the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority (PNGFA) to assist in its forest monitoring activities. The drones were presented on March 1st, 2019, at the closing of the Drones Usage Training Workshop in Port Moresby.

Valued at about K170,000, the equipment consists of a set of ‘Phantom 4’ drone and IPAD, four sets of ‘Mavic 2 Pro drone including four IPADS, four sets of HP Laptops, PIX4D mapper software and four units for data process.

JICA has two pilot projects in Sandaun and West New Britain provinces so each of them will be given a drone each with its accessories. The other two will remain at the PNGFA headquarters in Port Moresby.
