Find yourself a purpose in life and spend time for yourselves and respect yourselves, Mrs. Lillian Mel said this during the Mother’s Day celebration on May 08th 2020 at the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority (PNGFA) headquarters in Port Moresby.
“Value yourself. Don’t be intimidated by others.
“Look at yourself as a human being created fearfully and wonderfully and respect yourself so it will be easy for you to respect others. Don’t look down on yourselves as you are a human being structured like any other.
Mrs. Mel who is the Treasurer for Women in Forestry Information Network (WIFIN) said; “Be a professional woman in the office or anywhere else. When you go home, most will be going there as mothers. At community gatherings, you must also know that you are going there carrying a status within yourself.”
She thanked the menfolk working alongside women in the organization and the forestry sector who treated each other as family.
She also thanked PNGFA Managing Director Mr. Tunou Sabuin for recognizing mothers in the organization and organizing the event, especially with the lockdown due to coronavirus.
She added: “Being a mother is a role like any other in the organization that you young ones do not know much about yet. What mothers face daily is sometimes tough, challenging, emotional, and painful but when the new day dawns and the sun shines, we still stand up ready to go through yet another day.
God gave us the inner strength to face a new day daily as like all other women throughout the world.
Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.
